The CAT

Bay Ferries Limited operates the “THE CAT” high speed ferry between Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and Bar Harbor, Maine. We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Maintenance in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. This is a full-time seasonal opportunity.

The Bay Ferries terminal and terminal grounds are a focal point of the passenger experience. Our maintenance person maintains and improves this environment to ensure that it is a safe, welcoming, attractive and pleasant experience for all our passengers.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety
• Perform daily inspections and maintenance on equipment such as lawnmowers, power tools and service vehicles
• Ensure lawns, gardens and terminal areas are in pristine condition
• Handle lines and set up the ramp during ship arrival and departure
• Collect water samples and deliver to lab for analysis
• Complete daily and monthly checklists and record information in spreadsheets and the Safety Management System (SMS).

Qualifications:

• Experience with basic engine maintenance and repair
• Experience with general maintenance duties such as painting, building maintenance and landscaping
• Ability to use a computer for preparing reports and sending email
• Experience communicating with the public
• Commitment to wear uniform according to standards and maintain good grooming
