Know Before You Go

New Safety Measures

Bay Ferries Limited has introduced new safety measures to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and provide a safe ferry voyage between Saint John, New Brunswick and Digby, Nova Scotia. We’ve taken a series of measures to help enforce safe social distancing and have implemented a contactless check-in process.

Travelling to New Brunswick

No isolation or testing will be required for those travelling to New Brunswick from the Atlantic provinces, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland & Labrador and Nova Scotia.

No isolation or testing will be required for Canadian residents with at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine travelling to New Brunswick.

Unvaccinated Canadian residents travelling to New Brunswick from outside the Atlantic provinces, or Avignon or Témiscouata in Quebec, will be permitted to enter the province. They will be required to isolate and take a COVID-19 test between days five and seven before they can discontinue isolation.

Travel registration will continue to be required for all travellers entering New Brunswick from outside the Atlantic provinces.

Travelling to Nova Scotia

People travelling between Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island need to self-isolate when they arrive in Nova Scotia. They also need to apply to travel to Nova Scotia by completing the Safe Check-in Form before they travel to the province, including most travellers who are exempt from self-isolation.

If you travel between Nova Scotia Scotia and New Brunswick or Prince Edward Island for work, school, childcare or essential veterinary services, you need to follow the the COVID-19 Nova Scotia-New Brunswick-Prince Edward Island Travel Protocol (PDF 249 kB).

Some people are exempt from the self-isolation requirement when travelling between Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Even if you’re exempt, you still need to follow the COVID-19 Exempt traveller Protocol (PDF 175 kB).

Starting 23 June 2021, if you live in Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador) you can enter Nova Scotia and don’t need to self-isolate when you travel to or return to Nova Scotia. If you live outside Atlantic Canada and have already self-isolated in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland and Labrador, you can enter Nova Scotia without self-isolating again.
