How long is the crossing between Saint John, New Brunswick and Digby, Nova Scotia?

The crossing is approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes in peak season and 2 hours and 30 minutes in the off season.

Do I need a reservation?

Booking in advance is highly recommended to ensure space on a particular sailing, you can make a reservation by calling 1 877-762-7245 or visiting

What information do I need to make a reservation?

  • Credit card, MasterCard or Visa
  • License plate number, if you’re bringing a vehicle (overall length and height of oversize vehicles or vehicles carrying items on or behind the vehicle, ie. Bike or kayak rack)

What time should I arrive at the departing terminal?

All passengers—with or without confirmed reservations—must be checked-in and available for boarding at least one hour prior to the vessel’s scheduled sailing time.

If you have a reservation and miss your check-in time, we reserve the right to cancel your reservation and place you on our waiting list on a first-come, first-served basis.

Anyone without a reservation will be added to the wait list.

What happens if my crossing is cancelled?

In event of a cancelled crossing, Bay Ferries, operators of the mv Fundy Rose, will send you an email advisory and options on how to rebook or cancel your reservations.

If you have not provided us with an email address, our agents will attempt to call you as soon as possible.

Please be sure to give us contact information that you will have access to while travelling. If you are travelling out of country, please keep cell phone data access in mind.

When in doubt, please call our contact center or terminals – they will be able to advise you of service interruptions and help you rebook/cancel.

I am travelling without a vehicle, where will my friends or family pick me up?

We have pick-up areas at each terminal.

Is parking available at the terminals?

A limited number of designated parking spaces are available at our Terminal facilities. Overnight parking is not encouraged for more than three days. Please note that the lot is unattended – park at your own risk.

Is the mv Fundy Rose wheelchair accessible?

We offer onboard accessibility with two elevators, an escalator, and ramps throughout. We also recommend you make your requirements known at time of check-in and our crew will be more than happy to assist you.

Can I remain in my vehicle during the crossing?

No – safety regulations do not permit passengers to remain in their vehicles.

Can I return to my vehicle during the crossing?

For safety reasons, there is no access to the vehicle deck during passage.

What seating is available onboard?

Seating aboard the mv Fundy Rose is first come, first served and cannot be reserved. We offer a variety of seats, including airline style seating. We have 744 seats, of which 250 are airline style.

New to our Bay of Fundy ferry service, the Trucker’s Lounge is a welcoming and comfortable area, dedicated to big rig drivers onboard the mv Fundy Rose.

Is there an outside deck?

Spectacular vistas can be seen from virtually any location on the mv Fundy Rose—especially on the Viewing Deck. The coastlines of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia can be seen, and while we sail the beautiful Bay of Fundy, there’s often sightings of sea birds and mammals, so be sure to bring your camera or binoculars.

Can I smoke onboard?

Effective June 9, 2019, Bay Ferries is pleased to provide a smoke-free environment on board Fundy Rose and within the Saint John and Digby Terminals to support the health and wellness of our passengers and employees. No smoking of any kind is permitted including vapor products, e-cigarettes, and cannabis

Can I shop for souvenirs onboard?

For your shopping pleasure, visit the Fundy Treasures Gift Shop, where you’ll find a lovely selection of local products and souvenirs from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. Bring back a piece of the Maritimes to your family and friends, or treat yourself to a special gift.

Is there WIFI onboard?

WIFI is available free of charge but it is intermittent.

You can catch up on work in our Business Centre which has three onboard computers, and three additional pods for your laptop hook-up.

What entertainment do you offer?

The Fortune Lounge
The Fortune Lounge features a 60” widescreen mega-sound television to create a true theatre experience, while comfortable “pod” seating is great for family gatherings. Sit back and relax as you watch the daily family-oriented movie feature, or gaze out at magnificent vistas during the voyage.

Is alcohol served on board the ship?

Yes. Alcoholic beverages are available in all food service areas for purchase for those 19+ years of age.

What dining options are available onboard?

Acadia Eatery
The Acadia Eatery offers a full daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu, with a variety of healthy choices such as salads, sandwiches, and soups, plus items such as burgers, pizza, and fresh seafood including a specialty-of-the-day selection.

Crow’s Nest
If you’re looking for a light snack, appetizer, hot beverage, or an ice-cold drink, then head to our licensed Crow’s Nest to satisfy all your cravings. Located outside Deck 7, the Crow’s Nest will be open subject to weather conditions and seasonality.

Mid Ship Café (Seasonal)

Visit our licensed Mid Ship Café for a delicious fresh-brewed cappuccino, latté or specialty tea. Feel like something a little more substantial? Choose from an assortment of light healthy snacks, fresh-out-of-the-oven specialty items, and delectable desserts.

Do you have a children’s area?

For all of our little crew members onboard, the mv Fundy Rose has a supervised Children’s Program featuring a variety of activities including arts & crafts, toys, and stories. Available from June 22 through August 31 (dates are subject to change), the Children’s Program makes an already great journey even better.

Filming/Photoshoots on Bay Ferries

Production companies may be permitted access mv Fundy Rose and terminals as a venue for filming or photoshoot efforts. Are pets allowed onboard?

Only cats and dogs can travel on the mv Fundy Rose. Pets can travel in their owner’s vehicle, or in an onboard kennel. Owners are not allowed to visit their pet during passage, therefore must leave them with adequate food and water supplies. Crew members monitor the car decks and will contact the owner if a pet seems to be uncomfortable. Kennels are limited and are available on a first come, first serve basis.
