Customers traveling to or from the Caribou ferry terminal should be aware of ongoing road construction on Highway 106 between the Pictou Rotary and the terminal.

Dates: April 27 to August 31, 2026

Hours: 6:00 AM – 11:00 PM, daily


Impact: Reduced to single-lane traffic with intermittent stops. Motorists should expect delays of approximately several minutes or longer during peak periods.

What this means for your trip:
- Please allow extra travel time when heading to the terminal

- Plan to arrive earlier than usual to avoid missing your scheduled sailing

On select MV Northumberland sailings, vehicle loading will be managed to prevent bottoming out or high-centering at the vessel-berth interface. This issue can arise due to low tide levels combined with MV Northumberland’s sloped truck deck, creating a "valley" that may cause certain vehicles, such as those with long overhangs, towing trailers, buses, or large RVs, to become hung up.

This is not related to water depth at our ports, as recent dredging at Wood Islands and Caribou was completed. It is specific to the vessel's configuration in low tide conditions.

This condition will be addressed through planned engineering work aboard MV Northumberland, with a permanent solution in place before May 1, 2027.

The marine weather forecast for Sunday, July 19th indicates winds and a sea state in excess of our limits for safe docking of the vessel and passenger comfort.  The following sailings have been cancelled:
