Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program

Some disabilities—like autism, anxiety, hearing loss, or PTSD—may not be immediately apparent to others. Recognizing that some passengers may have hidden disabilities, or may choose not to disclose them, is an important step toward ensuring a more inclusive and supportive travel experience for everyone.

Bay Ferries and Northumberland Ferries are proud to offer Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyards, this discreet tool signals that a passenger may need extra time, support or understanding while traveling.

How to Receive a Lanyard

The lanyards will be available at the vehicle booths, terminal buildings and on the vessels. If you need assistance while sailing, please connect with:

  • The Passenger Services Supervisor on Northumberland Ferries (Prince Edward Island–Nova Scotia), located at the cash area in Salt Water Café.
  • The Purser on MV Fundy Rose (New Brunswick–Nova Scotia) or The CAT (Maine–Nova Scotia), located at the Pursers Desk.
